The New Standard of Domain Names...

Domain Name Valuations have always been a tricky task, and it's often amazing to see the vast differences in valuations suggested from one source to another. This said, 3-Character domains are somewhat unique in that they can be valued somewhat more accurately due to three very important features, which include:

• their length
• their character composition
• their comparable recent sales data

We use several models to offer the below pricing tools, but most importantly we focus on recent sales (which is hands

down the best and most accurate valuation tool) to create our regularly updated and surprisingly accurate price guide.

As a final note, it is nearly impossible to determine a domain name's "End User" valuation, as that depends on an enormous number of factors. This price guide carefully tracks and determines wholesale (also known as reseller) domain values only and should be used only as such. Wholesale trends are the only way to track such sales, and often lend powerful insights into the "End User" marketplace! And we'll also admit that there are exceptions to every appraisal.

Pricing Guide for 3-Letter (Composed Of Letters Only) Domains:

Current Observed Minimum Wholesale Price (regardless of letter combo) as of December 1, 2006:

• 3-Letter .com - $3050 (+ $100 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Letter .net - $680 (+ $15 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Letter .org - $235 (+ $10 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Letter .info - $125 (+ $5 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Letter .biz - $60 (+ $10 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Letter .us - $100
• 3-Letter .mobi - $85 (+ $20 since November 1, 2006 report)

The quality of the letter composition can play a significant role in determining 3-letter valuations. General concensus states that the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T are considered premium letters. Other lesser high quality letters include: J, K, U, V, W. Lower quality letters include: Q, X, Y, Z. Domains selling for less than the above figures would represent a strong buy in today's market. Premium letter only domains tend to fetch a 500% to 600% premium (or more) over the Minimum Wholesale Price. Mixed letter quality domains have valuations somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

Current Observed Minimum Wholesale Price (regardless of Number combo) as of December 1, 2006:

• 3-Number .com - $5000 ((+ $100 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Number .net - $775 (+ $25 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Number .org - $300 (+ $25 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Number .info - $165 (+ $15 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Number .biz - $75 (+ $5 since November 1, 2006 report)
• 3-Number .us - $125 (Note: These are the rarest of the NNN Domains, as the registry holds a high percentage of NNN.us names)
• 3-Number .mobi - $750 (+ $350 since November 1, 2006 report)

The quality of the Number composition can play a significant role in determining 3-number valuations. General concensus states that the numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 are considered premium numbers. Other lesser high quality numbers include:4 and 6. Lower quality numbers include the number 0. 3-Number Domains selling for less than the above figures would represent a strong buy in today's market. As is true in 3-Letter and 3-Number Domains, the quality of the letter and number composition can play a significant role in determining 3-Character valuations. General concensus rules for letter and number quality tend to apply also to 3-Character domains and can swing a domain's valuation significantly.
